OUR president welcomed everyone, and thanked Ethel for the flowers. She said the watercolour quickies had been most enjoyable at the August meeting with Sheila Ward, and interest was shown if she could arrange another session.

A coffee morning has been arranged at Pat's in October, with raffle, for our charity, and we received a letter from HRH The Prince of Wales thanking us for our donation when we visited Highgrove. Our autumn outing will be to Chichester on Wednesday, October 15.

We were all saddened to hear of the death of Rosemary Vannerley, a past member and secretary, who had moved to Derbyshire some years ago.

Dr Kirsty Crombie-Smith was our speaker, telling us how, during her gap year, she had become interested in helping a deaf boy, and decided that was her future. She went to university in Birmingham, and now works for Deafax. Deafness affects eight million people in the UK, and 60,000 use British Sign Language. She taught us the alphabet and some signing, working in pairs, and hopefully we'll be able to help someone find the loo if the opportunity arises!

Kathy Benions came 1st in the competition of a holiday snap, and Sheila Hooper "Bloom of the Month".

October's meeting is the AGM, with a harvest bring and buy. We meet on the second Wednesday in the month at the Community Centre, Rose Avenue, Hazlemere at 745pm. Please pop in - you'd be most welcome!
