NHS Buckinghamshire would like to invite local people, patients and carers to their first ever ‘Health Here’ community event.

Tuesday 29 June 2010, 2.00pm-4.30pm The King’s Centre, Desborough Road, High Wycombe, HP11 2PU

The ‘Health Here’ event gives you the chance to find out about the latest developments in the NHS. Local healthcare professionals and NHS Buckinghamshire board members will be at the meeting so you can speak to them about the NHS in Buckinghamshire.

We know that patients want community care services that are personal, and treat each person as an individual. Our vision is for local community services to continue to grow and develop. This first event will look at the ‘Improving Access to Care and Treatment’ programme, which makes this aim possible.

Ed Macalister-Smith, Chief Executive of NHS Buckinghamshire, said:“Our aim is to develop local, modern health services so people can be treated, wherever possible, near to where they live.

“A key part of this programme is the shift from hospital to community services. Stronger community services allow people to use health services close to their home. This means patients and their carers will get care, support and advice where and when they need it.”

Advances in technology and medical treatments are allowing more and more people to receive care in the community. New technologies are enabling people to take measurements such as blood pressure and blood oxygen at home, and allow these to be monitored by a community matron or specialist nurse, who can then take swift action if there is cause for concern.

Anybody who would like to find out how their local NHS is developing is invited to attend the meeting.
