Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has responded to concerns from patients and staff around car parking and has upgraded the patient parking system at Wycombe and Amersham hospitals accordingly.
Through staff and public membership engagement events, it was highlighted that patients often found it difficult to find spaces and the pay and display system was not helpful in instances where appointments either overran or were delayed. There were also concerns raised by the public regarding the difficulty differentiating between staff and patient parking.
In order to address these concerns, we have introduced barrier controlled parking to segregate patient and staff parking spaces, and a pay on exit system for patients which will be effective from Monday 1 August 2011. This will not only help us to better regulate the available spaces and reduce the anxiety patients have to face when worrying about having to ‘top-up’ their parking, it will also allow patients to pay using credit/debit cards.
The parking system at Stoke Mandeville will remain as it is. For more information, please visit our website www.buckshealthcare.nhs.uk.
