On the 3rd of June two local fighters Sam Ward and Tom ward went to the London Excel centre to compete in one of the largest martial art combat shows in Europe, The Ward Brothers both fought in K1
bouts which is a modified version of Thai Boxing, Sam Ward (7,0,2) fought Damo Weedon (6,3,0) from the phoenix academy, And it wasn’t long into the 1st round before Weedon realised he was in
trouble, Wards strong Thai clinch and sharp knee’s connected with Weedon’s face and mid section bringing Weedon to the canvas several times throughout the bout, Ward used crisp combo’s and quick
movement to outsmart his opponent ,After Ward connected with countless knee’s Weedon was dropped and after climbing the ropes to get to his feet the fight was over before it finished ,And after
Weedon was dropped again in the 3rd round and given another 8 count by the ref it was clear Ward could sense Weedon was crumbling under the pressure and knew the fight was his to win, Ward was
clearly the better of the fighters and showed it in style and at the end of the 3rd round Sam’s hand was raised and was declared the winner by unanimous decision, Sam is now back at training and he
is training harder than ever in preparation for his ISKA British K1 title fight that is set for the 21st July. Sam’s younger brother Tom (6,2,1) competed in his first 5 round fight challenging Dean
Alexander (10,2,1) for the Amateur English K1 Title, Alexander started out strong catching Ward with strong knee’s in the clinch, But by the start of the 2st round Ward seemed to of settled in to
the fight and started to come back with quick punch’s and solid low kicks, Ward attempted a spinning side kick but Alexander’s defence was to tight to get through, By the 3rd round Ward has figured
his opponent out and put his moves to use stopping his opponent in his tracks with strong push kicks to the body that put Alexander on the ropes Ward then attacked with several knee’s and low kicks
that put Alexander on the canvas several times during their bout, In rounds 4 and 5 Wards low kicks and leg sweeps took their toll on Alexander taking him of his feet each time, But Alexander
didn’t give up with his quick hand combo’s keeping him in the fight, both fighters put on a great performance, Both Ward and Alexander worthy of the title of English Champion But only one could
walk away with the Belt, And by another unanimous decision the younger brother Tom had his hand raised and was awarded the English K1 Champion Belt, Both brothers are looking for sponsors and with
Sam 2x pro English Champion and Tom the new Amateur English Champion these brothers are a going places and taking your name with them would be good for anyone !! Sam would like to say thanks to his
sponsors, CDS pro, SDW Builders of Chesham, DSM fabrications and BM construction.

On Wednesday 28 September at 7.30pm the High Wycombe Society is holding a meeting in Bucks New University's Gateway Theatre to debate the future
of High Wycombe Town Centre. A presentation by WDC's Director of Planning, Jerry Unsworth, and Team Leader John Callaghan will be followed by questions and discussion. The key issue is whether to
support the Council's proposals to get rid of Abbey Way and eventually open up our historic River Wye, but singling Arch Way is another issue which could help in re-invigorating Frogmoor (it needs
it!). Our meeting is open to all and entry is free. Do come!
