THE speaker for our September meeting was the Botanist, Dr Brenda Harold who gave us an illustrated talk on the flowers of the Canadian Rockies. She was warmly welcomed on her return to us, and gave us another good afternoon with her pictures and commentary.

During the business part of the meeting we reflected on activities of the past weeks, with our visit to the Wren Davis farms getting special mention.

This was a farm walk, on a wet day, with insights into the restoration of the fruit orchard, organic farming of cereals, and meeting with the friendliest of cows as particular pleasures. The walk was rounded off by bread and butter made from home grown grain. It was a good day, and our ramblers are going back for another walk later this month.

All the groups are busy; Craft for the November Christmas Fair, a proposed theatre visit to Calendar Girls, and a number of members planning to go to the Bucks Federation council meeting in October.

We celebrated the award made to Mrs Joan Everitt at the Chiltern Show: her service to the village and her "good neighbour" gifts were recognised by a presentation at the show, and recorded in the local press.

We look forward to our next meeting on Tuesday, October 21 at 2pm in the village hall - a warm welcome awaits you.
