Our gold star mayor’s no loony trout

THE prize for the funniest email address in Bucks, if ever there was such a prize, would surely go to… the Mayor of High Wycombe.

I was tickled when I received a message from ‘Loonytroutwoman...’.

That is, somewhat astonishingly, the first part of the address of Julie Pritchard, the town’s first citizen, pictured.

I challenged Julie over this and she told me the name was jokingly chosen by one of her daughters.

The trout part comes from the fact there were a lot of singing fish plaques around at the time which Julie loved.

Her address gets even funnier but I’ve left off the end out of fear that the mayor will be plagued by emails from other fish fanatics.

Julie, to her credit, was happy for me to do a piece on this when I asked.

“By all means poke fun at me – we are but here to entertain,” she said.

A gold star goes to the mayor for being such a good sport – so in recognition of this I won’t jokingly alter her name to Julie Pilchard.

And it gets better. Julie has now agreed to hand out the first prize in a special new Backchat competition.

I will arrange for a fish plaque to be awarded by her in the mayor’s parlour to the reader with the most bizarre email address.

* Send in entries to the boringly-titled scohen@london.newsquest.co.uk Midweek employees and High Wycombe mayors are not eligible to enter this contest.
