The name game

WE all loved the tale last week of Miss Lacey Green, the American student who has been visiting the Bucks village of Lacey Green, pictured.

In fact, we loved it so much that Backchat is now trying to repeat the story across other parts of our county.

Lacey, 24, from Milwaukee (the home of the Fonz), came across the name coincidence when she typed her name on an internet search.

Her appearance in the normally sleepy hollow caused a massive stir among residents and she became quite the celebrity.

She helped boost village morale, boosted the profile of charity fundraising events and had strangers walking up to her in the street to shake her hand.

So I asked Backchat researchers to see if we could help out other villages in the same way.

I wasn’t expecting much – and was shocked when reporter Simon Farr came up with the following:

Simon has taken this on with relish.

He is now writing to the above people asking if they plan to visit Bucks in the near future – and he’s attached a web link to the Lacey Green story just to persuade them he’s not a nutter.

Simon Farr does have an unfortunate name problem of his own, by the way. Whenever we put his byline on a story, we have to carefully proof read the Farr for typos – because r and t are next to each other on the keyboard.

I’ve slipped up a few times myself with the last letter, but luckily corrected it in time so readers haven’t got wind of it.
