YOU may, or may not of course, have noticed my absence from the parade at Thursday’s grand Christmas lights switch-on in High Wycombe.
I will never take part in such an event again after my experience of a few years ago when I was asked to be part of a group celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas.
I recall my party had to wear funny wigs and that we were ‘Ten Lords A Leaping’ or something like that.
Well, we didn’t do any leaping but just walked round in eerie silence. It was all a bit weird and embarrassing, and there were lots of public complaints about the lack-lustre event.
I’m sure this year’s parade was a lot better, but I’m too old for this kind of stuff now.
I’m perfectly capable of making a fool of myself of my own volition without anyone else helping me do it.
