Get out and celebrate the Olympic flame

AFTER all the arguments and disappointment over the Olympic torch not coming to Marlow – the time has now come to embrace it and celebrate when it arrives over the bridge in the neighbouring village of Bisham on Tuesday.

Yes, we are disappointed it is not coming to Marlow – the home of five times Olympic gold medallist Steve Redgrave and home to several other Olympic rowers – but let’s enjoy the fact it will be burning bright just the other side of the river.

All over the country, thousands of people have been lining the route to watch the torch as it makes its way through the country to the Olympic Stadium.

Now it is our turn to join in the party that has been sweeping the nation.

It is a moment in history, a time to be proud and time to celebrate all that is good about Great Britain.

The Queen’s Jubilee was a wonderful event that brought communities together.

Now it is time to get those flags out again and celebrate the fact that the Olympics are coming to Buckinghamshire with the rowing events at Dorney Lake and revel in the fact that the eyes of the world will be on our county.

Let’s get out there on Tuesday and do it proud.

Sorry - is this not called the BUCKS Free Press?
It came to Aylesbury which is the county town of BUCKS!
And yet hardly a mention.
Why do you just not call yourself the SOUTH Bucks Free Press?
Far more accurate seeing as you have no interest in what happens north of Princes Risborough..
