I arrived home this evening to read the article on the news section of this site entitled “Adams Park "not sustainable" for Wasps or Wycombe Wanderers”.

The article seems to imply that the rugby club “would have no future in High Wycombe if controversial plans for a new stadium and sports complex are not built”.

It looks very much as if the people of Wycombe are being told that unless the new stadium is built the rugby club will leave and we are therefore being held to ransom over the issue.

Issuing threats to go unless you do as we say is not only very childlike and unprofessional but shows the desperation that is creeping in to the scheme.

If they are prepared to leave as easy as that then they must care very little for being in our town after all if they were really committed to Wycombe they would want to stay at any cost.

Do you know I think the best thing would be for them to leave then we could be rid of the rugby club and madcap stadium once and for all. We would be better off without them.

The whole project has caused too must trouble and anguish for too many people for too long.

How on earth did we arrive at this point?

Well, if it hadn't been for a farcical consultation survey in which people could vote multiple times and in fake names then the stadium would have been kicked into touch months ago.

The news article to which I originally referred then goes on to imply that the football club would not get into the championship unless the stadium is built.

Why should the people of Wycombe become embroiled in this unwanted scheme simply to placate the ambitions of a sports team when there are more important issues to be addressed in the town?

The news article also said on the subject of the current stadium: “It needs to be more sustainable.” and "I can’t keep putting in money year after year for the next 50 years.”

Well, if the business is that shaky why are we even bothering to consider building a new stadium? The people of Wycombe should not have to prop up something the current owners cannot afford.

The more I think about this repugnant stadium the more I come to loathe it and everything it stands for.

The latest turn in this farcical saga must surely be a huge public relations disaster and will only serve to turn even more true Wycombe residents against the scheme.

However I fear the situation will only deteriorate until the scheme is stopped.

The sooner the scheme is cancelled the better then we can all get on with our lives and live in peace.
