I call myself that as I am constantly juggling work, family, home, friends, gym, running, socialising etc etc. So I shall blog as I go and hopefully you will join me in the busy, sometimes mad but generally interesting and often funny life I lead!

To Basque or not to Basque

Yes indeed that was the question as I stood amongst an array of underwear in the middle of Primark the other Saturday.

No I wasn’t hoping for a night of passion and neither was I looking to revert back to my ‘dressing up like Madonna’ days. No I was actually seeking inspiration for the outfit I would wear for my next Girlie night out. Venue … ‘The Rocky Horror Show’. Windsor As I stood in said shop I wondered why I hadn’t stuck to my promise of getting this outfit sorted out weeks ago. Or why I hadn’t pressed the bid button on ebay outfit seen the week before at 1am (the only time I get on without the kids moaning!) I always seem to do that, you know leave it till the last minute.

So here I am thinking this is good, lots of choice, cheap and cheerful, (my 11 year old always finds a bargain or two) so I am bound to find something.

My aim, well if you know the show you will realise I was having to dig deep to find the kind of ‘right out there’ side of my personality, you know the rather sassy wild side, more Katie then Kylie if you follow my meaning!!!

Well two hours later I had atleast bought a rather short rara skirt, from childrens section (there is some advantage of being small) along with some very lacy leg wear but still no Basque. The Red Santa one was just not me.

Later that evening stood in my room with other good friend I held my breath as she laced up a rather gorgeous bright red Basque, just the ticket. By all accounts she used to wear it 20 years ago(and I thought I was a hoarder) anyway she very kindly agreed to my loaning it. Although she admitted she was gutted I could get into it and honestly I took NO satisfaction whatsoever that in the fact that I could.

So Friday came and there I stood looking very, well lets just say the mother-in-law would have given me one of her looks (you know ladies the special ones they keep for us!) holding bag of props best friend instructed I bring.

Couldn’t wait to find out what the rubber gloves were for and why would I want a Newspaper?? I figured perhaps the toast was for later that night when we might feel peckish, though we normally have marmite too… Arriving at pub in Eaton with friend (we’ll call her Georgie, she’d like that) we entered pensively she also akin with very black sassy dress and top hat, a bit of a Ring Master. Two V &C ’s later we felt much better especially since various other friends turned up looking just as strange. We had quick practice of the Time Walk, (organiser friend thought needed to!!) and then headed down to Theatre.

What a night. Well I haveto say following the story was a bit tricky as you also haveto follow order of props, not easy whilst remembering to shout out obscene names every time lead characters appear. The papers went over our heads as we all mimicked the Storm scene with our water pistols, the gloves were pinged as the surgeon prepared to scalpel and we all threw toast as the characters raised their glasses.

Not everyone did the dressing up thing but those of us that did (majority) all looked perfectly placed It was mental but brilliant!!! Thank you Georgie what a great birthday treat(she’d bought the tickets) and definitely a show I would go to again.

We finally rolled in, rather late, well let’s just say Cinder would have lost both slippers. Haveto say all that shouting did leave me nursing somewhat of a headache the next day. No ofcourse it wasn’t anything to do with the few glasses of refreshments we had.

Still managed to get my running shoes on though and boy do I need to.

Did I really say I would run the London Marathon!!!

Oh dear, that's another story!!

Merry Xmas The Juggler
