I call myself that as I am constantly juggling work, family, home, friends, gym, running, socialising etc etc. So I shall blog as I go and hopefully you will join me in the busy, sometimes mad but generally interesting and often funny life I lead!
1:38pm Thursday 31st December 2009
Well what a fabulous Christmas I have had. Kids loved their pressies, husband very happy with his and I didn’t have to host Xmas day so that was a bonus.
No instead we went to dear Sis-in-law who put on a feast of great food and cheer. 11of us there all my husbands family who I haveto say are in-laws as opposed to outlaws (lucky me) and we get on fabulously. Champers and canapés were wonderful and the mood happy and light. That was ofcourse until Bro-in-law decided to dictate the preparation of the Bread Sauce. Should have seen it coming as this is something of a re-occurrence in our family Xmas. He has to have it served cold!! I mean how hard can it be? Powder in pan, milk added whisked up then left to go cold and soggy! Not rocket science although Bro-In-Law seems to think it is. Anyway fortunately I had just entered kitchen to offer my gesture of help(as one does not really expecting acceptance) when things were getting just a touch tetchy. When I saw Sis-in-law looking somewhat red in the face raising wine bottle to her lips as opposed to glass I knew I should intervene!! Juggler saves the day. “Ok guys I can do this” I told them, “I know what you mean Bro cold white sauce is just the best(use this line all the time and he buys) so let me”. He grudgingly handed over the packet whilst receiving dagger look from partner. Not content was he to leave me to it he watched over as I tackled the exceedingly complex instructions. Phew I managed it. Before sitting down I insisted on now somewhat ‘frosty couple’ having hug with lots of love, love, love. It worked, meal was wonderful, crackers fired and we had a great night of more wine, food and games oh and our usual dancing which ends with us all doing ‘Zorba the Greek’, fantastic! So another year is nearly over and once again I find myself wondering “where did that go???” Is it as we get older that the years not only pass us by very, very quickly but we also can’t keep up with how fast they go.
I look back over the last 5, 10 years and WOW!! I shake my head at how those years whizzed and I mean whizzed by me. Why can’t we slow it down a bit? Ok, Ok I know there have been times when I have wished my days, weeks and possibly even months away.
Oh wish it was Friday. Oh end of month pay day yippee. Oh to be on that beach just a few more months….In fact the more I think about it the more I realise that is all we do, we constantly wish our days, weeks, months and years by.
Why???
Do we seriously want to get older?? Doesn’t that mean Crinklier, Saggier, and Grouchier!!! OMG!!!
So this year is 2010 and I have decided I shall savour every moment of it. No more shall I wish it was Friday, will it to be pay day or role on spring or summer …. No instead I will try to take on every moment as a gift. Another day free of extra crinkles, not so saggy and still happy not grouchy. Umm, umm that’s the plan.
So my first focus for 2010 is The Virgin London Marathon which I have decided to run in this year. Not without nerves or panic have I taken this on but I figure if I don’t do it now I never will and hey ho why not!!!
Having indulged far too much in booze, food and late nights just recently I am sure this venture of mine will help get me back in shape. In actual fact it may even mean I get to achieve fabulous legs without having to wait for my second life when I return as a very, very tall, not fed much, Catwalk Model, which would be good as I have recently decided I would much prefer to come back as Beyonce. A far more rounded and someone what gorgeous person me thinks and also that way I get to sing ‘Listen’ (if you haven’t heard it then do please watch ‘Dream Girls’ movie, fab music, fab dresses and gorgeous Jamie Fox) and be applauded for it rather then shouted at by dear husband and children who tell me my version needs to be?? funny that’s all they ever say?
Anyway I shall no doubt celebrate new year with a few glasses of cheer and so on, before getting in to my training next week. On that I shall keep you posted.
Have a fabulous New Year all. I hope it brings you health, happiness and I’m sure some extra dish wouldn’t go a miss.
