BUCKINGHAMSHIRE’S top jazzman, the award winning saxophonist, Simon Spillett, has played many times at Marlow Jazz Club, but always with the resident trio. Next Tuesday, March 19, for the first time he brings his full band. They are touring to celebrate a new album. His star line-up is pianist, John Critchinson and two famous sons of famous fathers – Alec Dankworth, bass and Clark Tracey, drums.

Bianca - Part of village’s landscape

IRRATIONALLY you assume some people to be permanent, such an integral part of the landscape almost, that their absence is difficult to envisage. Such a personage was Bianca Taylor, the very sad news of whose death broke in the valley last week.

TRYING to establish agreement, from a number of interested parties, for a permanent commemoration of Sir Steve Redgrave’s remarkable Olympic achievements has now taken more than a decade. The money has been available for a considerable time and now there are real prospects that before long the project will be implemented on the county-owned triangle of grass-land that adjoins the brewery. Verbal support has been indicated by all concerned, although formal agreement has yet to be settled. Residents of the valley, particularly all those who contributed to the funds, can rightly expect some explanation of the inordinate delay.
