Following an exchange of letters in the BFP in recent weeks, I am not going to get into a mud-slinging match with Cllrs Colomb and Green, although if I was unfortunate enough to live in Wycombe and have them force their ideology on me, I certainly would not back down from any such argument.

Their crocodile-tear protests are simply a smokescreen to keep Wycombe voters away from the real issue of having proper local representation that everyone else in the district has.

As has already been pointed out, councillors such as Richard Scott (Con Marlow) have the final say in matters pertaining only to High Wycombe town at parish level; this is not the case anywhere else in the district.

As far as I am aware, no vote in High Wycombe has ever been cast for Cllr Scott and other non-Wycombe members like him, but Cllrs Green and Colomb allow this odd perversion of democracy to continue as it suits their political cause. Shame on them.

Next year there is a mandatory local election, this would be the ideal time to print an additional ballot paper for the voters of High Wycombe to choose in a referendum whether or not they wish to have their very own local council which would operate without interference, political or otherwise from councillors in any other towns or villages in the district.

A referendum is not cheap, but would be cost-effective if held at the same time as the regular elections. Surely Cllrs Green and Colomb would be in favour of letting the local Wycombe people decide what they ultimately want to see happen in their town?
