let’s raise a cheer for our roadbuilders.

After years and years of criticism about the state of our roads (not always their fault; realistically blame wet weather, cold winters, building developers and so on) they have come up with a plop-and-go system that is repairing holes all over the county swiftly and efficiently. (I believe it’s borrowed from New Zealand.) So next time you see one these teams at work, give them a thumbs up instead of a toot. — Rodney Smith, by email
