We are appealing for help to raise the £500,000 needed to complete the refurbishment of Helen House to bring it up to modern standards. Helen House provides hospice care to children with life shortening conditions, living in Buckinghamshire, between the ages of 0-16 years old and their families.

We have received £436,000 from NHS England and we have raised £500,000 through donations made since the appeal was launched at the end of 2013. But we need a further £500,000 to complete this essential work.

Helen House has been supporting families in Buckinghamshire for over 30 years and the time has come to up-date-the facilities in line with modern standards. These improvements include piped oxygen in all the rooms, and wider corridors and spaces so larger, modern wheelchairs and beds can be moved around.

The spa, music, art and play areas enjoyed by the children as well as the kitchen and dining areas all need updating. This includes a dedicated teaching space for children so they are able to continue their lessons during their stay.

We need to raise the funds by the end of this summer. Whether you are an individual, school, company or community group, if you can help us by making a donation, please visit the charity’s website at www.helenand douglas.org.uk, email us at fundraising@ helenanddouglas.org.uk or call us on 01865 799150.

Many thanks for your help to help families in the Buckinghamshire area. — Clare Edwards, Director of Clinical Services/ Deputy Chief Executive, Helen & Douglas House
