I would like the opportunity to respond to the recent story on page 2 of BFP ref ‘Junction 4a’ (August 8).

I can see that Cllr Alan Hill is asking the question to why not work with the Highways Agency to look to install a new junction in the west of Wycombe.

My understanding was that the HA was not prepared to built a new motorway junction when the stadium talks were proposed, so why now would they change their minds? It would cost many hundreds of thousands of pounds, if not millions, to build a new junction. The HA does not have the budget to allow a project such as this to happen.

Presently the HA has invested into the new SCOOT traffic light system to help manage the traffic flow onto Handy Cross and has also invested a lot of money in the fairly recent additional construction of the middle lanes onto the M40.

It seems to me that Cllr Hill and fellow Conservatives are trying to sound out this ridiculous suggestion to see how it would fly with the residents of this side of Wycombe, as they want to try and dump more retail and commercial units to make more income for Wycombe District Council.

WDC is not a business, it is a local government service for us the tax payers who pay for it.
