After seven years of the sun shining on Beaconsfield Country Fayre, it was inevitable that one day the heavens would open up and try to ruin our eighth fayre. But the community would not let a bit of rain spoil the day and it was great to see so many people brave the horrendous weather to come and enjoy the various activities. We were particularly thrilled that Mary Berry was able to open the Beaconsfield Country Fayre, and despite the incessant rain, she said it was a “real privilege” to be there.

The dog show again proved very popular and this year there was a wonderful demonstration from Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. Fourteen teams competed in the infamous Stretcher Race, with the winning team “Wild Training Trainers” coming close to the course record and we had four teams competing in the Children’s Stretcher Race. A collection of classic cars had a stream of interested onlookers. It is too early to say how much money the Country Fayre 2014 has raised this year. Unfortunately the weather will have made an impact of the amount that can be given to local charities. The committee would like to thank everyone who helped to make the Beaconsfield Country Fayre happen this year despite appalling weather conditions. In particular, we are extremely grateful to Mary Berry, the Mayor and all the local businesses and organisations that gave generous sponsorships and gifts for the raffle, the dog show judge and trainer, and to all the people who gave up their time and volunteered to help on the day. We are particularly proud of the “gung-ho” spirit demonstrated by everybody, and we send you our sincere thanks. — Kathryn Grudgings and Sylvia Jones, Co-Chairs, Beaconsfield Country Fayre Organising Committee
