It took the Western world until the late 18th Century to start to believe that the weather that produced the seasons of the year, collectively called the climate, was not dependent upon performed rituals or incantation of ‘sacred’ words, created by oligarchs to achieve the desired results. Particularly when failure to do so was blamed on the bad behaviour of the people.

By the mid 20th century, the scientific world had come to realise that the driving force of the seasons (the climate) was determined by the manner in which planet Earth orbited the Sun.

It therefore seems very strange that later ‘discovery’ of how and why this orbital movement alters over time, although known in other cultures centuries before, and that the sun’s radiation is far from constant never became part of our education.

Now we are not even taught the fundamental knowledge of Earth’s orbit. Instead we are taught a load of half-truths and some downright falsehoods in an attempt to make us believe once more that the climate has nothing to do with nature but is dependent upon our behaviour.

This is called ‘progress’. We really ought to look very carefully indeed at the present day oligarchs in charge of our ‘education’ and who, like those of centuries ago, benefits most from perpetuating falsehoods and ignorance. – P.D. Somerville, Coningsy Road, High Wycombe
