It does not surprise me in reading that WDC have decided that rather than risk losing voting through using all of their reserve housing sites, through the main council, that instead they went through the Conservative controlled cabinet.

I wouldn’t have expected anything different.

This is the way that a main party in power works.

One that has been in power now for many years and works on a safe seat system, whereby affluent voters vote Conservative each and every time.

However unlike the glass ceiling that’s set up to protect the main two political parties for national elections such as to stand as an MP, what most people don’t know is this secret… In order to stand for your own ward as a Resident Association or as an Independent candidate for elections into WDC or BCC, it is achievable and with a few helping hands, can mean it’s time to kick the rascals out.

Especially if they have been staying quiet on subjects as these.

A lot of elected councillors who are also members of the main political party in power, do as they are told and if they are shown to be good boys or girls, then they tend to get promoted into paid or influential positions. As Sir Humphrey would say ‘Climbing the greasy pole’.

As in the case of fighting the stadium plans, the only way to fight the system, is to be in the fight. What better than considering what it takes to become a candidate and fight this cabinet’s decision?

Stand up and be counted, we need good people that care and who want to bring about change.

I am happy to point anyone towards a political party agent or will help directly if you are looking to stand as an Independent/Residents Association candidate in next May’s WDC elections. – Cllr Darren Hayday, Independent BCC Cllr for West Wycombe
