This is destroying hospital facilities

RE: The story of a five-year-old boy from Flackwell Heath who had to be driven by his parents to Stevenage after seven hospitals were unable to carry out surgery on him.

I WAS shocked to read the headlines on the front of the Free Press two weeks ago, regarding the young boy and his appalling experiences and the way he was treated by our local diminishing Health Service when he broke his arm.

This was an absolute disgrace brought about by the decisions made some years ago by the unelected members of our local healthcare trust.

Who are they? Who elected them? What are their names?

Due to publicity by your excellent newspaper, 40,000 people signed a petition against these decisions four years ago.

40,000 local people who were trying to protect their local hospital facilities.

And what notice was taken of this very strong local reaction by these faceless people on our local healthcare trust?

I am a member of Marlow Peoples' Action Group, along with Terry Price who is spearheading our campaign to stop the disastrous results of those wrong decisions.

Nine of us went with him to the House of Commons on June 23.

Together with our MP, Paul Goodman, we met with the shadow Health Minister, Mike Penning, to discuss our concerns.

We had a very constructive meeting, and are now formulating our plans to drive our campaign forward.

Marlow Peoples' Action Group is affiliated to other 50+ groups around the area, looking at local problems.

We are non-political, and non-sectarian.

If you are worried about your hospital slowly disappearing, especially when the supposed alternative is already overstretched, we would like your support, financial or otherwise.

Please feel free to contact me via the Bucks Free Press, or visit our website, which is as follows: http://www.bucksinfo.net/marlowpag/ Remember, it is your hospital facilities and healthcare which are being transferred away, and being destroyed by these faceless people, and when it is gone it is gone.
