Advertise the Holywell Mead pool

I AM completely disgusted by the council’s plans to close Holywell Mead swimming pool. The pool is a valuable resource to the town, and has provided years of enjoyment for everybody.

As a teenager, I sometimes find that there is not much to do in the summer. So instead, I spend my summers down at the pool, and I’ve always had great fun. But it’s not just children and young people that love the pool, so do adults! It may be true that the pool is losing money, but I think its main problem is that it is just not advertised. I’ve spoken to many who live in Wycombe, visit The Rye, and don’t even know that it exists!

Clearly, this is a huge problem. Since you can see it from the main road, visibility shouldn’t be an issue. If they simply put up a large sign you could see from the road, I’m sure lots more people would visit.

If the council ever did close the pool, many would be upset. If they can spend millions of pounds on a shopping centre – which clearly has come at the wrong time, considering the economic downturn – surely they can invest more on our pool. With the Olympics coming, no doubt swimming is going to become more popular, and the pool will receive more customers.
