FORMER Marlow Mayor Cllr Richard Scott may be upset by a business mail box he considers “out-of-keeping with the area” (Marlow Free Press June 12), but it’s a pity he doesn’t vent his ire instead on a far greater local eyesore – the disgrace that is Royal Mail’s apparently “temporary” Post Office portable building in Market Square.
As visiting Canadian friends recently commented: “Marlow used to be a unique picturesque English town, our very favourite. How can your local authorities have let it decay so shamefully? The sight of empty shops and a superfluity of coffee houses was depressing enough, but that Third World shack that passes for a post office speaks of a very real local problem.”
That’s a tourist’s view. Imagine how Marlovians feel.
