FOLLOWING the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) launched its appeal in the UK to provide emergency aid to the three million people who have been affected by the disaster.
To date, a magnificent £50m has been raised by the appeal, £22m of it raised in the South East, including Buckinghamshire. Public generosity has secured the funding for immediate short-term emergency work in Haiti and crucially, any new donations will now be spent on helping Haitians recover and rebuild their lives over the next three years.
On behalf of the DEC, we would like to say thank you to readers for their generous support and to confirm that donations are still very much needed. Either by visiting www.dec.org.uk, calling 0370 60 60 900 or going into any Oxfam shop. Thank you.
Nadya Herrera Catalan, Oxfam.
