Here are some car parks you can use

12:36pm Friday 19th March 2010

OPEN letter addressed to Mrs E B Wood of Longwick who last week said she no longer visits High Wycombe because she cannot use the ticket machines in the multi-storey car parks. She asked for the restoration of the old Sainsbury’s open air car park.

I SAW your letter in the BFP and thought you might find the following of interest/helpful:

  1. Many people find the Cressex Park & Ride works for them. It is a surface car park and for bus pass holders, is a free service, which brings people right into the town centre.
  2. There is a large long stay surface car park at Baker Street, which is to the west of Eden. People also make use of Morrisons car park (close to the former Sainsbury’s surface car park) for ‘linked shopping’ trips. The small NCP car park (above what was Woolworths, now Iceland and Poundland), off Castle Street, is a little-known gem.
  3. The former Sainsbury’s surface car park is soon to be developed as a (much needed) town centre (budget) hotel and a new specialist retail store (which will add to the town centre’s offer).

I hope that you find this helpful and will visit the town again.

Charles Brocklehurst Head of Property Services, Wycombe District Council.
