Under-40s must think about the causes they back

IS it too late save the UK? I ask this question as there seems to be a huge difference in what appears to be important between, say the over 55s and the below 40s.

You have been pointing out for an age now that the Bucks NHS is erroneously trying to close our High Wycombe A&E, or whatever they care to name it these days.

The response to your/our campaign published in last week's Free Press (April, 27); a grand total last week of 1,300 people out of a population of circa 93,000 who bothered to sign the second petition! This is the paltry addition to the initial campaign that raised some 468 names.

Compare this to the reported 800 people who have joined in a Facebook campaign to allow a converted Rastafarian to keep living in woodland near Booker.

In last week’s BFP, your Vox Pop on “Should this man be forced to leave High Heavens”; the replies are all to the effect that he should be left to carry on with his lifestyle!

Unbelievable – what does he do with his human waste? What if ten, then 20 or even 100 all decided to live in the woods?

I suggest it might become rather smelly and unbearable and who may I ask would pick up the cost of clearing up such a mess?

Terry Hill (sorry my spell checker can’t cope with his new name); the convert to the Rasta ideals has every right to convert to whatever his fancy desires and I support him in this.

However since the Rasta creed rejects Western ideals, culture and codes, it is strange that he is able to wash himself and recharge his mobile phone at the house of a friend, as reported in the BFP.

So you under 40s citizens, please think about what cause you are taking to your hearts. Guess what? You are the people who will have to live with all this when you get to pensionable age unless you start to address our current malaise.

May I respectfully suggest you really do knuckle down and get a grip before it is too late?

I think you would know this as “wake up and smell the coffee”.
