FOLLOWING news that Pinewood has announced a consultation on the future development of Pinewood Studios, I am writing on behalf of Buckinghamshire Business First which represents the interests of businesses in the county to express our support for the scheme and emphasise the benefits to both the county and the UK as a whole.

The expansion plan will have significant and far-reaching benefits to Buckinghamshire and the UK as a whole giving a massive boost to the local economy, creating thousands of jobs and presenting opportunities for businesses across the UK.

In addition, it will ensure that the country will maintain its position as a major player in the global film industry, itself worth billions of pounds.

Other countries, including China, Russia, South Africa and Australia are making significant investments in their film industry, and without this development, we seriously run the risk of being left behind.

If the UK is to remain globally competitive, it is absolutely essential that, in the Entrepreneurial Heart of Britain, we support this development and show that Bucks really is ‘open for business’.
