Events across Buckinghamshire have been cancelled over the weekend following the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on Thursday (September 8) afternoon confirming her peaceful death.

It read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

A period of national mourning has officially begun across the country today and will continue until the day of the Queen’s state funeral in 10 days’ time

Event organisers and organisations across the country have paid their respect to the Queen, with many cancelling events out of respect.

Some have also decided to 'keep calm and carry on' in true British fashion as High Wycombe Cricket Club says they will be holding its Big Bash event in honour of The Queen 'never cancelling an event in her 70 years of reign.'

The event takes place all weekend and the club will have a Book of Condolence ready, should people wish to post a tribute.

On Friday afternoon it was confirmed that the Wycombe Wanderers match against Port Vale has been cancelled after it was due to take place this Saturday at 3pm.

In a statement released on Friday morning, EFL said: "It has been determined that all EFL fixtures from 9-10 September will be postponed as a mark of respect by the National Sport to the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II."

A number of businesses across the county closed their doors yesterday out of respect including LEGOLAND theme park in Windsor.
