LIBRARY customers with fines have a chance to get their record wiped clean before the amnesty ends.

Buckinghamshire Council announced an amnesty for all historical fines to help residents with the cost of living crisis.

Now library users with fines have until Tuesday February 28 to wipe their record clean by visiting any Bucks Council- run library.

Items returned late during the amnesty months won’t accrue any fines, but books and other items should be returned to libraries, Bucks Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure Clive Harriss said.

He said: “From the pandemic to the cost of living pressures, residents have faced enormous challenges in the last few years. To help with these challenges, we have decided to offer an amnesty for all Buckinghamshire Libraries' fines.

"If you are unsure when you need to return your loan items, then sign up for Library ELF to get free email alerts when an item is due for return. This will help you avoid incurring any new fines."

Library users can have their fines waived by speaking to staff at Buckinghamshire Council libraries before the amnesty ends.
