Bucks Council are warning residents of revised bin collection dates over the Easter Bank Holiday period.

Due to an influx of bank holidays over the coming months, Buckinghamshire Council have warned residents to double check their rubbish collection dates.

Many usual collections will be pushed back by one day, with the Good Friday collection moving to Saturday, April 8, the Easter Monday collection moving to Tuesday, April 11, and the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday collections all following a similar pattern.

Cabinet Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, Gareth Williams, said that alteration of refuse and recycling schemes was an inevitable consequence of multiple bank holidays falling in April and May.

He added: “Everyone enjoys this time of year, when the bank holidays for Easter, May Day and the end of May Spring Bank Holiday give most of us some extra time to enjoy with family and friends.

"And this year we have the bonus of an extra bank holiday, as part of the celebrations for the King’s Coronation.”

The alterations will include some Saturday collections over the coming months and temporary changes that are likely to extend to all residents in Bucks.

Mr Williams said: “Our crews will be working extended hours to keep these changes to a minimum but it is vital that residents check our website and social media to find out what the changes are in their area so they know the correct day to put out their bins.”

In addition to the temporary bin collection changes, Household Recycling Centres in Bucks are set to revert to summer opening hours from April 1.

The HRCs will be open for drop-offs between 9am and 6pm from this date onwards, with opening days varying at different sites.
