A campaign has been launched to try and reduce the speed limit of a ‘dangerous’ road near Aylesbury.

The A41, which links Aylesbury to Waddesdon and is currently a 60pm road, is known or being an accident blackspot in the county, which some crashes resulting in deaths.

One of the most recent accidents that happened on the stretch of road was on June 26, where a 45-year-old man died in a crash that involved a motorbike, a heavy goods vehicle and a car.

However, thanks to the help from the Waddesdon and Stoke Ward councillors, along with Buckingham MP Greg Smith, a temporary speed limit has been implemented on the road of 50mph.

In two Facebook posts that were published on Monday, June 28, Waddesdon and Stone Ward Councillors said: “Thank you Greg Smith MP for coming out today and meeting local farmers, the Hunters about the Recent crashes on the A41.

“We have met with officers from the police, HS2 and the Council and agreed to a temporary 50 mile speed limit to be put in place within two weeks, along with warning signage.

“We wanted 40 but the police would not accept that, but it’s a positive step in the right direction.”

Greg Smith MP then added: “The A41 is a dangerous road at the best of times, the addition of HS2 between Waddesdon and Aylesbury has made things even worse.

“Recent horrific accidents on the road has brought this into sharp focus.

“I’ve been working with local Councillors to persuade the Council and Police to lower the speed limit in this stretch, which happily they have agreed to do.

“I’m also working with residents and Bucks Councillors to persuade the Council and TVP to take road safety action further along the A41 near Kingswood.”
