LIBRARIES in Micklefield and Bourne End could be drawn into a council's spending cuts plan, it emerged today.
The facilities have been refurbished and supported by a £1.5 million Lottery grant, but will be 'reviewed' at the end of this year when the funding runs out.
They are run by Buckinghamshire County Council in partnership with the community.
Micklefield and Bourne End are not currently part of the council's plans to withdraw nearly £500,000 from its library service. Volunteer groups are being sought to take over 14 of the county's smaller facilities (see link below).
The future of Micklefield and Bourne End, as well as Burnham Library, will depend partly on how successful they have been in the last couple of years and how many people are using them, bosses said.
Paula Buck, head of culture and learning at BCC, said: “We haven't done that piece of thinking yet... They are small libraries and we need to look as to what their place will be moving forward in the whole of the county offer.”
Micklefield Library re-opened in 2009 after lobby group Micklefield Matters raised £27,000 to keep the old building running. It had been shortlisted it for closure but the group secured lottery funding in partnership with the council.
