THE temporary closure of a major road through the central Lake District has ended.
The section of the A591 from Keswick to Dodd Wood had been closed owing to resurfacing works.
The road maintenance works - which covered the stretch of road between the Crosthwaite Roundabout at Keswick and the Millbeck turn-off - were extended yesterday, before being officially lifted earlier today.
The route is now complete and the road is fully open for access, the county council announced this afternoon.
Road authorities have thanked drivers in the area for their patience during the works.
