Healthcare bosses have revealed plans to cope with increased demand for services in East Wycombe amid a projected rise in the number of residents in the area.
The Chiltern Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is planning to give a number of GP surgeries a makeover in a bid to meet growing demand on healthcare services due to a planned increase in housing developments.
The Wycombe District Council Local Plan says more than 5,200 new homes will be built across the district with 2,240 of those planned for East Wycombe.
Lynton House Surgery on the London Road will be refurbished in the New Year following “complex negotiations” on a new lease and Cressex Health Centre at Hanover House will be “adapted” to provide more clinical space.
If Cherrymead Surgery in Loudwater agrees to the plans, it will have internal modifications made to provide more space, as will Highfield Surgery or Desborough Practice in Hazlemere and Kingswood Surgery, Totteridge.
Plans are also being developed to create a primary care access centre on the Wycombe Hospital site, according to the CCG, which recognised that services are “currently stretched”.
Their proposals were revealed at a primary care committee on Thursday.
