A teenager has denied murdering a "fun-loving and bubbly" nurse in High Wycombe town centre who died from burns days after she was allegedly splashed with a chemical.

Joanne Rand, 47, died at Stoke Mandeville Hospital 11 days after she was said to be splashed with the substance and suffered serious injuries in Frogmoor on June 3.

Jo, a mother-of-three who worked in Marlow but grew up in High Wycombe, was sitting on a bench when the incident happened.

Police fear Jo had been "caught up in an altercation" between a group of men.

Xeneral Webster, 19, from Hammersmith in London, is accused of murder, attempted grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and robbery.

He denied all the charges against him when he appeared at Reading Crown Court on Monday.

His trial is due to start on April 9.

After her death, Jo's devastated family released an emotional tribute to the "caring" woman, who was the youngest of five siblings.

They said: "We are utterly devastated. Our pain is immense and our hearts are shattered.

“We will never get over losing Jo, she has left such a big hole.”
