UPDATE - Revealed: Man's decomposed body 'discovered near makeshift camp months after death'
Mystery still surrounds the shocking discovery of human remains next to a busy motorway slip road one year on.
The “remains” of a man were discovered at the side of the A404, M40 slip road, near the Handy Cross roundabout, on February 3, 2017 during the search for a runaway dog.
A High Wycombe resident and two police officers made the gruesome discovery while looking through nearby woods and shrubbery following an earlier sighting of the missing dog.
The remains were originally thought to be a pile of "clothes and rubbish", according to eyewitnesses.
The grisly discovery prompted a major police investigation, with detectives trawling through missing persons records in a bid to identify the man.
The death was treated as unexplained and not suspicious.
Thames Valley Police have been approached for an update on the investigation.
