A High Wycombe man who did not feed his dog properly and failed to get her “painful” skin condition treated has been banned from keeping animals.

Roger O’Donoghue, aged 22, of Gomm Place, pleaded guilty to one charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal at a hearing at West and Central Hertfordshire Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on June 12 last year, O’Donoghue caused suffering to a female lurcher type dog by failing to properly feed her.

He also failed to ensure the proper treatment of a “painful” skin condition that she was suffering from.

As punishment for his offences, O’Donoghue has been banned from owning a dog for two years, and is also banned from keeping the dog he mistreated, as well as her puppy.

He was also ordered to pay £400 compensation, was given an 18-month community order and told to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
