A fish and chip shop could install a ‘McDonald’s-like drive-thru’ system for online orders, if new plans are approved.

Mr Bhardwaj has submitted to Bucks Council a planning application for Corner Plaice, at 59 Mill End Road, in High Wycombe.

Plans detail the ‘extension of the existing crossover and laying of permeable block paving to allow for access and egress of vehicles’.

The existing four-metre area will be extended to 10.5 metres to create a turning space.

The change will ultimately allow “customers to drive in, pick up their food and drive out safely without having to reverse out onto a busy road”, a council document reads.

“Whilst we are still in the pandemic situation, the owner wishes to allow the service of drive-in and pick-up, similar to McDonald’s drive-thru, where orders placed online can be delivered through the front window without customers having to leave the car to pick up their food,” a design and access statement reads.

It adds: “Mill End Road is a busy road and reversing out of the premises can be dangerous and restrictive.”

The applicant is now awaiting a decision from Bucks Council.
