Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Nick Freeman has stated that the club’s 3-0 defeat away at Bolton was an ‘off day’ for the club.
The Chairboys were second best throughout the match at the University of Bolton Stadium, as two strikes from Kyle Dempsey either side of an Aaron Morley finish gave the Trotters their first-ever goals and win over Gareth Ainsworth’s men.

It ended a run of four straight victories and clean sheets for the Buckinghamshire side over their Greater Manchester opponents.
Freeman, who came on for the second consecutive week as a substitute following his 11-month absence due to injury, said: “It was tough, they are a good team, and we weren’t at our best.
“The gaffer said that it’s all about what you do in the tough times that matter.
“The good times will always seem easy and bubbly, but during the tough times, it’s all about sticking together.
A bitter pill to swallow.

Gareth Ainsworth shoulders the brunt of this afternoon's defeat to Bolton, looking to rectify the performance this week in matches against Northampton away in the League Cup and Shrewsbury at Adams Park on Saturday.#BOLvWYC
“It was an off day and we will be alright but credit to Bolton as they are a good side.”
Wycombe will travel away to Northampton Town on August 9 for the first round of the League Cup, before hosting Shrewsbury Town on August 13.
Freeman continued: “We will put things right.
“We’ve got Northampton on Tuesday to put things right, then we have got Shrewsbury on Saturday in the league.
Tough away match against a quality in form team. No doubt the result was disappointing. Our boys had opportunities. It was unlikely we were going to be undefeated this season. Long season and many better days ahead. I trust in our process. Stay tuned and believe. https://t.co/97KjgKqz40

“We’ve got next week to put it right and I am glad to have a few more minutes under my belt in the league as it has been a while.”
After being top of the table following the opening round of fixtures on July 30, Wycombe have dropped to 11th.
