Wycombe Wanderers’ home form over the last calendar year has been described by Gareth Ainsworth as ‘spectacular’, ahead of their battle against Charlton Athletic at Adams Park this weekend.

At the time of writing, the Chairboys have played 25 league games at home since August last year where they have won 15 of those fixtures, with there also being five draws and five defeats.

One of those victories happened to be against tomorrow’s opponents which was part of a brilliant run, where Wycombe won eight straight home league fixtures in a row.

But even though Wanderers’ last home outing ended in defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury Town two weeks ago, Ainsworth is hoping to put things right against the south London side in Buckinghamshire.

There has never been a draw in this fixture out of the nine matches that have been played between the two sides (Six wins for Charlton, and three wins for Wycombe).

Ainsworth said: “We’re getting players back and the squad will be strong on Saturday after Wednesday’s game, so it’s all about recovery and getting the players into the best possible shape.

“The day could see 6,000 to 7,000 down here which will be great if the away end is sold out, and this is an awesome fixture to have.

“I know in midweek we changed it up a bit as we protected a few of the boys that are playing in the first team but, I think our home form has been spectacular over the last year or so.

“Even in the Shrewsbury game, we deserved to win that.

“We’re going to do the same against Charlton as we will prep right, look at their weaknesses to see what we can exploit, but also see what their strengths are and try and nullify them.

“They are a very good side, but we do believe that their areas where we can hurt them.”
