Wycombe Wanderers will spend Valentine’s night at the Wham Stadium, as they take on Accrington Stanley tomorrow evening.

Buoyed by a brilliant 3-2 victory over promotion-pushing Derby County on Saturday, the Chairboys know that they can not let their current good form slip against a side languishing in the relegation zone.

But League One football does not take any prisoners, and with Wanderers recording just one win in their last five away at Accrington, can John Coleman once again get the better of Gareth Ainsworth?

It’s Accrington Stanley vs Wycombe Wanderers and here is everything you need to know.

Current Form and Background on Accrington

Stanley have had a tough time in League One this season winning just six of their 28 league games, as they currently sit 22nd on 27 points, two points from safety.

Their poor campaign has seen them pick up just two victorious from the previous 16 league fixtures, which included a run of six defeats in seven games, securing just one point from a possible 21.

Yet incredibly, despite their precarious position in the table, Accrington have kept five clean sheets from the six games they have won this season, with an aggregate score of 9-1.

The only time that had shipped in a strike and still got a victory was when they defeated fellow strugglers Morecambe 3-1 back on October 1.

This was part of a three-game winning streak that took the club to as high as ninth, but since that triumph at the start of the autumn, they have only won twice since.

Current Form and Background on Wanderers

The Chairboys head up to Lancashire on fine form.

Since the 2-0 victory over Portsmouth on December 4, Wanderers have accumulated 22 points from a possible 30, with the only setbacks being two 1-0 defeats against Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday respectively, and a 0-0 draw versus Lincoln City.

Even so, the dropped points were against sides that are currently sitting in the top two (Sheff W and Plymouth), and against Lincoln, the Imps are currently unbeaten at home in the league.

The 3-2 victory over rivals Derby on February 11 will no doubt boost the confidence amongst the players in the Adams Park dressing room, as they recorded three wins on the bounce for the first time since October.

The club’s run of seven clean sheets in 12 games is also one the best in League One this season.
