The Bucks Free Press understands that Gareth Ainsworth’s potential move to Queens Park Rangers is ‘on the cards’ after talks with the Wycombe manager allegedly took place on February 20.

The 49-year-old has been linked with the Loftus Road job after the Hoops fired Neil Critchley following one victory in 12 games.

A source close to the Free Press revealed that the West London club's pursuit of Ainsworth ‘looks likely’, although no official confirmation from Wanderers has been released as of yet.

Additionally, John Percy from the Telegraph revealed in the same afternoon [February 20] that ‘compensation is already agreed’ between the two clubs, and that the decision for the move to go ahead is now down to Ainsworth himself.

Ainsworth has been with Wycombe since 2009 and took over the managerial job at Adams Park in September 2012.

He has gone on to take charge of 550 games for the Chairboys, winning 219, drawing 137, and losing 194.
