Following Wycombe Wanderers’ 2-0 victory over Fleetwood Town on March 7, manager Matt Bloomfield decided to praise two individuals on their performances.

Goal scorers Chris Forino and Sam Vokes were lauded over by the new Chairboys boss, as the duo’s strikes helped the Adams Park side achieve their first win under the former club captain.

It was Wycombe’s first victory in two matches as they remain just outside the play-off places.

Speaking on Forino, Bloomfield said: “Chris was excellent on Saturday against Exeter, and I thought he was excellent again tonight.

“It was great for him to get that early goal as it gives him a boost of confidence, but he was really secure with his defending.

“The way he passed the ball around was brilliant and there was a great maturity from him this evening.

“It was a very good performance from him.”

On Sam Vokes, who scored his sixth of the campaign, he added: “I thought Vokesy was brilliant on Saturday but he was even better today.

“The way he led the line, the way he brought others into play, his timing of how to press and he more than deserved his goal.
