Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has said he will ‘not look for excuses’ as he aims to get his side back to winning ways.

The Chairboys have not won in six consecutive matches in the league, and suffered the ignominy of losing 2-1 at home to bottom side Reading on Saturday.

The loss against their Thames Valley neighbours was compounded with Lewis Wing, an ex-Wycombe fan favourite, scoring the winning goal to secure the Royals’ first league triumph on the road since November last year.

Wanderers next face Barnsley at Oakwell on November 28, with the Tykes sitting in eighth place, two points off the play-offs, whilst the Adams Park club are 13th.

Bloomfield said: “We will work very hard and make sure that we’re ready to go.

“Some of the boys are playing with knocks, but we will be ready.

“Believe me, my character is to not look for excuses.

“We need to be ready to fight, tackle, scrap and do everything we can as we know going up there will be a hard battle.

“These are the basics of football, and they will continue to be.

“Any good football team does that and we need to make sure we do all of that on Tuesday.”

Wycombe defeated Barnsley in this fixture last season 3-0, which secured their first-ever victory at Oakwell.

Each strike was considered to be a goal of the season contender, with Anis Mehmeti, Dom Gape and Nick Freeman all getting on the scoresheet.
