Wycombe are currently on their worst run of form in the league for nearly two years, as they have dropped into the bottom half of the table.

They take on Barnsley who sit just outside the play-off places but have had a mixed season due to off-the-field issues.

So what we can expect when the Chairboys head up to Oakwell?

Lowdown on Wycombe

Wanderers are winless in six in League One – this is their worst run of since January to February 2022, when they went seven without a win.

This was a run that included four losses and three defeats.

This time round, four performances from the previous six matches haven't warranted a concern, but the two defeats against Stevenage and Reading, especially the latter, would have given manager Matt Bloomfield headaches.

Wycombe were weak, lacked any threat and failed to regularly penetrate the Royals’ defence, as they recorded their first away league win since November last year.

The Chairboys do have 10 players out injured which include Freddie Potts and Luke Leahy – two summer acquisitions that have been vital to Wanderers’ success in September and October.

They are hoping to return the latter to the squad for the trip to Barnsley, but after his head injury in the 1-0 loss against Stevenage, his inclusion could be pushed back until it is safe to do so.

Lowdown on Barnsley

The Tykes are over their heartbreaking play-off final defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in May, as they aim for a return to the Championship.

The South Yorkshire side currently sit in eighth place winning eight of their 17 league outings so far this season, as they are two points off the top six.

However, out of their five defeats this season, four have come at home.

Those losses have come against Peterborough United, Oxford United, Portsmouth and Blackpool respectively.

They are also all currently higher than Barnsley in the table.
