Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield believes that several refereeing decisions have gone against the club in recent weeks.

Speaking ahead of the Chairboys’ home FA Cup tie against League Two Morecambe on Saturday afternoon, the club are currently winless in their last seven league outings, which includes losing 1-0 to Barnsley on Tuesday night thanks to a controversial strike in injury time.

The goal, which came from an alleged shove by Tykes forward Sam Cosgrove on goalkeeper Max Stryjek, has been considered as one of the many decisions that have not been given in favour of the Chairboys.

Bloomfield told the press: “I think we’ve had plenty of decisions go against us this season.

“Going back to the Portsmouth game [on October 3] where we were told that one of their players should have been sent off, then the foul that led to their goal in the 98th minute.

“Of course, we had the Stevenage situation [on November 11], where I have had confirmation that one of their players should have been red carded but wasn’t.

“You’re going to get decisions go for you and some that won’t.

“But you just need to hope that the big decisions don't go against you but ultimately, we’ve had a few go against us.

“The PGMOL [Professional Game Match Officials Limited] have confirmed that to us, so, it’s part of the challenge that we face.

"But you can only rely on what you can bring on a matchday.

“And if you work hard enough then the luckier you become, and this could help with our results.”

Since Wycombe’s 4-1 away demolition of Fleetwood Town on October 7, Wanderers have only won three matches in that time, with each of those triumphs all coming in cup competitions.

They included two 1-0 victories over Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy, and a 2-1 win against Bradford City in the FA Cup respectively.

And with the Adams Park side in cup action in their next two fixtures, Bloomfield hopes his squad can put in a performance worthy of a win.

He concluded: “There is never a bad time to play in an FA Cup tie and it’s great to be part of this competition.

"I’m looking forward to it as I want to get into the third round, and we’ll approach the match with Morecambe with energy and enthusiasm.

"We want to win – it’s as simple as that.

"We’ve had wins against Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy and Bradford in the FA Cup, which have come in this winless run in the league.

"This is a huge opportunity for us."
