Wycombe Wanderers have been eliminated from the FA Cup following a very flat 2-0 home loss against League Two Morecambe.

The Chairboys went into the contest with no league wins in seven but had won four of their previous cup matches.

And despite a positive start which saw Killian Phillips force Adam Smith into a comfortable save, before he fired over.

This was as good as it got for Wycombe as the Shrimps got a foot in the game and took the lead on 38 minutes.

An Adam Mayor corner was not decisively dealt with by deputy goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli, and there was Eli King to head home from close range.

It was his first goal for the club since joining on loan from Cardiff City.]

Wanderers were intricate in their passing up top, with Dale and Lyle Taylor working well together, whilst Kian Breckin worked the midfield.

But the Chairboys offered nothing in the final third that forced Smith to save, and 10 minutes into the second half, Morecambe got their second.

Wanderers became incredibly disjointed at the back as they were put on the back foot, and after the visitors found themselves in a two versus two situation, Michael Mellon’s cross was brilliantly smashed home on the volley by Tom Bloxham.

It was his second of the campaign with both goals coming in the competition.

It was a well-taken strike which cemented the League Two side’s place in the third round of the FA Cup.

Boos were heard at the full-time whistle as Wanderers' poor run continues, but as for Morecambe, the cup-set ended their four-game winless streak.

Up next for Wycombe is the Fulham U21s in the EFL Trophy on December 5 at Adams Park.
