Wycombe Wanderers manager has provided an injury update following the club’s 2-0 home loss to Morecambe in the FA Cup.

The Chairboys, who went into the cup tie as favourites, started the encounter on the front foot and fell behind to an Eli King header just before the break.

Tom Bloxham then made it to two midway through the second half.

The full-time whistle was met with a loud chorus of boos as it was the third season in a row that Wanderers were eliminated from the competition to a League Two side at Adams Park without scoring.

It also means the club have won just one of their last seven FA Cup matches at home.

Speaking on the injury front, as Wycombe are currently without 10 first-team players, Matt Bloomfield said: “We have lost a lot of key players, some of whom are leaders.

“Jack Grimmer and Garath McCleary haven’t trained all week as they’ve been ill, we put them on and it didn’t work.

“David Wheeler missed out due to illness, Jasper Pattenden injured his hamstring so we’ll have to wait and see what that is like.

“I believed we had enough in the squad to cope but results may suggest otherwise.

“We’ll be hoping to include a couple back to the game against Fulham on Tuesday evening, and for when we play Derby in a couple of weeks, hopefully four or five could be back.”

The 39-year-old also admitted that the club is low on confidence following a run of just two wins in 10 matches in all competitions.

This includes no victories in seven in the league.

Up next is the Fulham U21s in the EFL Trophy, and a victory over the PL2 side could see the Chairboys progress into the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2016/17 campaign.

Bloomfield continued: “We had a lot of the ball and played too many sideways passes and we want to play in the forward areas.

“We know we’re in a bad moment but we need to remember the performances we had not too long ago against teams higher than us in the table.

“When the results go against you, it’s hard to retain that confidence and confidence comes with competence of doing, doing, and doing and we have to keep going.

“Today, we didn’t carry enough threat and we didn’t have the identity we wanted but we’re missing key personnel at the moment who have been so important to us and it’s hurting us.”
