Wycombe Wanderers are now three games unbeaten following a 1-1 draw away at Burton Albion.

The Chairboys were forced into making a single change from the team that defeated Bristol Rovers on Monday as Josh Scowen’s red card was not appealed and subsequently not rescinded, so David Wheeler came in.

New recruit Richard Kone made it onto the bench for the first time in his professional football career, whilst assistant manager Richard Thomas was calling the shots on the side lines due to Matt Bloomfield’s suspension.

This was after he picked up his third yellow card of the season in the 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers on New Year’s Day.

The first half saw neither keeper truly tested as expected both teams seemed to be a good match for each other.

Ex-Brewers striker Dale Taylor came close after five minutes as his header from close range just missed the target.

The Chairboys played some good build up football but the ball just didn’t quite fall for them in the pivotal moments.

Burton also had one big chance where Joe Low cleared a shot off the line and Sam Hughes followed it up with a thumping effort which went well wide.

Wycombe started the second half well but Burton struck first early on after a sumptuous effort from Beryly Lubala rocketed past Stryjek to give the Brewers the lead.

The away side continued to knock on the door through Sam Vokes and it would be that man who brought the Chairboys level with a beautiful finish into Crocombe’s net.

The Brewers keep was in the thick of it again as he denied a certain goal when he tipped a venomous Wheeler strike onto the bar.

Burton managed to ride out the Wycombe onslaught and hold on to gain a point, whilst Matt Bloomfield’s team have managed to pick up five from the last nine available.

Next up is West Ham Under 21’s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday at Adams Park.
