Wycombe Wanderers conceded a 97th-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 against Lincoln City at Adams Park.

The Chairboys started quickly out of the traps and nearly scored in the opening minute, as Sam Vokes’ header was expertly saved by Lukas Jensen in the Imps goal.

Kieran Sadlier was causing numerous problems along the left-hand side whilst Jack Grimmer and Gareth McCleary were working wonders on the right flank, as the visitors opted to deploy two lines of four to thwart the Wanderers attacks.

Luke Leahy fired over, Sadlier saw his shot go wide whilst Dale Taylor, who had only scored three goals in the league all season missed the target by inches.

However, Wycombe took the lead just before the half-hour mark in strange circumstances.

Grimmer’s cross was headed across goal by Sam Vokes, who managed to find Taylor.

The latter’s header was fumbled by Jensen before Lincoln captain Adam Jackson inexplicably clawed the ball away from the goal line.

There was a momentary pause as no-one knew if a penalty was going to be awarded or if an offside had been given.

But referee Scott Oldham pointed to the centre circle to single the goal, as the Northern Irishmen’s header had crossed the line.

It was the 20-year-old’s sixth of the season and his first in the league at Adams Park since August.

Lincoln offered little to nothing, but on the stroke of half-time, they nearly got themselves level through Dylan Duffy, but his long-range effort smashed the post.

Wycombe should have doubled their lead in the second period as Vokes headed wide,  Sadlier fired over and league debutant Richard Kone also went close.

Down the other end, Max Stryjek did brilliantly to deny Lasse Sorensen, Jack Moylan, Freddie Draper and Joe Taylor, as the Imps threw the kitchen sink in the last few minutes

And in the final seconds of the contest, Ethan Erhahon’s looped finish over Stryjek rescued the Imps the most unlikiest of points at Adams Park.

The result means Wycombe are now unbeaten in five and have not lost any of their three games at home this calendar year, in which they have moved up to 14th.

Up next is an away trip to Port Vale on January 20.
